The Best and Worst of 2010 and Hopes for a Great 2011!

The end of the year is near and it is time once again to review the best and worst of the show for the year. Y&R continues to prove why it is the number one rated soap opera in daytime, there are very few worsts and this keeps fans coming back day after day.

BEST COUPLE: Jack and Phyllis. Hands down these two are the best couple on the show this past year. They are very different and yet very much the same. They have romance, drama and fun all rolled into one and it’s about to get even better! This couple keeps fans tuning in day after day to see where their story will go next.

BEST STORYLINE: Tricia going crazy with vision Matt along for the ride. One of the truly great psycho stories in all of soaps and so well done. No other show does psychos like Y&R. Sabryn Genet and Rick Hearst were great as the two demented psychos in this plot of revenge. The ending had one of the show’s main characters off the show and Genet and Hearst playing it for all it was worth.

BEST VILLAIN: Michael Baldwin. Michael is not the classic soap villain in that he is not overtly bad, but he is the best at covert operations. No one suspects that it was he who was behind the breakup of Chris and Paul’s marriage. He plays nice to your face and nasty behind your back better than anyone in town.

WORST STORYLINE: Sharon losing the baby. I know this was done for plot purposes but just how much torment is one couple supposed to endure. I think Nick and Sharon have had MAYBE five seconds of happiness this past year. Enough is enough and the killing babies storyline has been used way to much in recent years on soaps.

WORST COUPLE: Paul and Isabella. Let’s see how should I put this, BORING! These two have about as much chemistry as two pieces of wood. This storyline has taken on a total new life now with Isabella being pregnant but it does nothing for the chemistry of this couple.

The past year on the show has been filled with mostly bests as the show remains number one with the fans. It looks like the new year will be filled with some revelations that could shake up many of the citizens of Genoa City and provide the fans with many more bests! Here’s to a great 2002! Happy New Year everyone!
