Bruce’s Journal Week Nine
by admin on Jan.27, 2012, under Exercise

I was in a daze as we packed and drove for my postoperative visit. We played the Keali’I Reichel tape as we passed vineyards and golden-green pastures. I wept with joy at being able to see the cattle and horses. I will never forget that magical morning. Now I knew how my patients felt about being able to see without glasses or contacts. We bid farewell until January, when we would speak on the same panel at the Hawaiian Eye Conference and Visx University. (continue reading…)

The ring was positioned and the suction started. I felt the mildest pressure and saw the micrikeratome traverse back and forth. When the flap was lifted, the circle of light and the blinking diode became fuzzier, but were still visible. He started the laser, I was able to maintain my gaze, which is a major concern. I could actually see the diode become clearer. I knew I would be under the laser for more than 90 seconds and mentally geared for it. The smell was familiar to me. I am a firm believer in bilateral LASIK. The adjustment and the follow-up suit our active patients. (continue reading…)
