Keep your card close by
When making a purchase, try keeping your card in view at all time
This may not be possible in a restaurant unless you at the counter. Retrieve it as soon as the transaction is completed.
Memorise your PIN
Never write your card PIN number down or disclose it to anyone.
Beware the Internet
There is always an element of risk that your card may to be duplicated when you use it. And the risk is likely to be even greater when you buy goods and services over the Internet.
Keep track of purchases
Keep your transaction slips so that you can easily spot any discrepancies when you check it against your monthly statements. Contact the bank if you dispute any item in the statement. Also do not discard transaction slips, which display the card number.
Do not reveal details
Never offer your call card details to “cold” telephone caller, ie anyone contacting you out of the blue, even if they claim to be from a reputable company.
Report loss immediately
This is to prevent the thief from running up bills with your card. Keep your account number, the expiry date of the card, and the relevant telephone number in a safe place. These information will be useful when making a report on lost or stolen card.
